This studio operates primarily by the sweat, talents and good
graces of Jen and Machelle, who think the public needs more
quality design and excellent stitching in all their projects.
Our indespensible apprentice and soon-to-be partner is Shelby.
When we have big builds for interior design, slipcover and
costume projects, jobbing in are Jaci, Lyra, Kathy, Dwayne,
Kathryn and Lisa and Robin, plus many other friends, professional
artists, and apprentices who answer the creative call and
hang out to collaborate.
Our studio provides resources to many performing arts and
dance organizations. We build custom costumes for theater,
dance, film, tradeshows, businesses, parties, and special
events.
Although
we've never applied for official nonprofit status, we often
trade our time and/or donate our facilities, machinery and
skills to help many individual artists and performing arts
organizations.
This
studio was started in Salt Lake City in 2001 by Jen, who owned
Santa Cruz Slipcover from 1996-1999, serving clients in Monterey
and Santa Cruz counties.
She is a trained costume designer - cutter- draper with many
years' experience in professional theater and higher ed. Her
graduate degrees are in costume design and performance studies.
She's lived on both coasts, likes to cook, and likes to make
beautiful things that make people happy.
