It's almost time for Burning Man ...are you ready?

Ra asked for something "Egyptian themed," so this is what I designed for him. Who knows what the sam hell you'll get when you give me a similarly open theme for your costume. Whatever it is will be really amazing.

But whatever your tastes, you gotta order costumes well before the Burn or you're TOAST! Thanks! Create an image file or a clippings file, get in here to see me, and let's design your costume..

Ok....so I reckon I have some explaining to do here.

This is a pretty unusual costume. It's some far-out Egyptian themed safari stuff, as worn by Ra here in these pics.

It's a fitted Shenti wrap with high contrast aqua piping. Nifty beads and fringe details at the hem. The fitted wrap is high waisted, with darts and decorative button closures on the side. The appliqued King's Apron worn over it hangs separately, from a wide belt.

Belt loops even have the cutest biohazard applique details, as do the gauntlets. Like 'em? I do!

Some groovy greaves lace up over the lower legs.

Basically,it's one whole bunch of Egyptian inspired and labor intensive applique details here, lovingly and painstakingly executed, taking many many sleepless hours (are you reading this, Ra?) in a variety of fabrics and automotive rubber mat.

As I recall, he ordered the pectoral necklace and the snake headband from an Ebay vendor.

My favorite thing about this costume is how the nibbed automotive floor mat matches the rubber in the sandals as if they were made to go together. It's pretty swell.
